The Best Defense “Street Skills” Workshop

Michael Janich’s “Street Skills” seminar is both a modular and an integrated approach to developing practical personal defense skills. Drawing from the skill sets highlighted in the popular “Best Defense” television show, it features instructional modules that focus on the defensive use of the knife (Janich’s acclaimed Martial Blade Concepts curriculum), practical unarmed skills (Damithurt Silat), empty-hand defenses against weapons (Counter-Blade Concepts), and the defensive use of impact weapons, including flashlights, sticks, and canes. These instructional modules will focus on these topics, while at the same time identifying and developing the body mechanics, leverages, patterns of motion, and reactive principles that serve as “common ground” to all of these skill sets. This approach enables students to develop practical, usable, and highly retainable skills in a very short time and allows them to easily adapt these skills to different weapons and circumstances.

This seminar will be conducted at Grove City Karate, 4068 Hoover Rd., Grove City, OH 43123. To register, contact Dave Holloway at (614) 539-5425. The schedule of instructional modules and training tuition is as follows:
