Tactical First Aid and “System Collapse” Medicine

This hands-on class will develop proficiency in basic battlefield medical techniques utilizing the military’s latest “Tactical Combat Casualty Care III” protocols.

Students will learn to stop traumatic bleeding from gunshot and knife wounds using the latest pressure bandages, tourniquets, and hemostatic agents.  Self care and care under fire will also be addressed.

Students will also learn simple patient assessment techniques, how to treat a sucking chest would and tension pneumothorax as well as field fracture immobilization and expedient c-spine immobilization.  Options for assuring clear airways (including improvised surgical airways) will be practiced.

In addition, students will learn how to treat themselves and families in the event of a long-term breakdown in our current medical system.  Wound cleaning and disinfection under field conditions, injection of local anesthesia and would closure (including minor suturing) will be practiced in our “trauma lab”.  If time permits, students will integrate all of these skills in several practical scenarios.

Information about what types of drugs to stockpile for natural disasters or a collapse in the health care system will be discussed, along with methods for legally acquiring those pharmaceuticals.  The instructor will also discuss what items should be included in a comprehensive medical kit and how to improvise those items in an austere environment.

All materials for the class will be provided by the instructor.

Class will run 9am until 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break.  Class is limited to 20 people and costs $95.  Registration and pre-payment is necessary to guarantee your spot.  Please give payment to Bryan McKean or send it to:

MBC November Training

Martial Blade Concepts(MBC) is an edged-weapon training program specifically designed by Michael Janich to meet the needs of today’s concerned citizen and armed professional.

The goal of MBC is the development of “all-purpose” defensive skills. Rather than learning a large number of specific techniques to defend against specific attacks, MBC focuses on perfecting a few proven techniques and learning how to apply them to literally hundreds of different defensive situations. Through this easy-to-learn method, students develop defensive proficiency very quickly and have both the ability and the confidence to employ their skills after only a brief period of training.

Join MBC Columbus for our monthly four hour training session. During this training session we will focus on all the aspects of MBC and its components. The content of the class is subject to change as participants may request we focus on one aspect or another.

If you are new to MBC, you are more than welcome to attend, we will get you up to speed. The beauty of the MBC program is that the core system can be learned in a short period of time.

Defensive Knife

Survival Operating Systems and Jeff Ellis have teamed up to offer:  Defensive Knife

In Defensive Knife, we will look at using a knife to defend ourselves against lethal force contact distance encounters.  We will look at:

•    Holding the knife to manage impact shock
•    The dynamics of cutting
•    Targeting priorities
•    Common edge weapon threats
•    “Speed stops” – A default series of responses to stop a violent attack quickly
•    Knife deployment
•    In-fight access

Based on Michael Janich’s system, Martial Blade Concepts (MBC), for edged weapons, which is a training program specifically, designed to meet the needs of today’s concerned citizen and armed professional.  MBC emphasizes the development of “all-purpose” defensive skills (concepts). MBC’s goal is to “learn how to fight effectively with a knife” – applying the attributes of the knife to the broadest possible set of defensive circumstances.
